Why I Feel Anxious in Relationships Even When Nothing Is Wrong

Many people experience anxiety in relationships even when things seem stable on the surface. You might find yourself overthinking messages, worrying about how someone feels about you, or needing constant reassurance.
Often, this isn’t about the present relationship alone,
it’s about deeper emotional patterns. These can develop from earlier experiences where emotional safety felt inconsistent, or where you learned to stay alert to others’ moods to feel secure.
In therapy, we explore these patterns rather than just the surface anxiety. This can include noticing:
When overthinking tends to start
What triggers emotional uncertainty
How you respond when you feel disconnected from someone
The aim isn’t to stop you from caring about relationships, but to help you feel more secure within yourself so relationships feel less overwhelming.
